Demand for Rural New Builds Continues to Rise
The number of people looking to escape to the country following the Covid-19 pandemic is continuing to rise, according to research from Warwick Estates. Despite many people pointing to the urbanisation of the UK population, the figures show that there are many going against the grain.
Many say the Covid-induced work-from-home revolution is to blame, with workers’ new found freedom meaning they no longer need to live in urban areas to access offices and headquarters. This has many assessing their options, with the green green grass of England’s many rural counties suddenly becoming a realistic option for city workers.
In some rural places, new builds make up at least 25% of all property stock - ready to welcome locals alongside new home-office workers alike. Part of a trend that began before the pandemic, new builds in rural areas have become a common sight, meaning that they are likely here to stay.
A large part of the appeal of rural living for many is the beauty, serenity and green space found pretty much on your doorstep. Combining the best of urban convenience and rural beauty is central to the plans of many.
Bethan Griffiths from Warwick Estates, the company behind the research, told Today’s Conveyancer:
“There is already a good choice of new-build purchases in some very popular and very beautiful rural locations across the UK. It shows that, when designed tastefully, and located tactfully, new build developments can help small regional economies thrive without jeopardising the beauty and serenity that makes these places so desirable in the first place.”
